| THE XXXVI IAPS CONFERENCE 2008 |
|
|
The 36th annual conference of the International
Association for the Philosophy of Sport (IAPS 2008) will be
held in Tokyo, Japan, from the 10th through 15th of September 2008, under
the auspices of the Japan Society for the Philosophy of Sport and
Physical Education. The society will be celebrating its 30th anniversary
(JSPSPE 2008) and hold the Research Seminar for Sport Philosophy 2008 (RSSP 2008),
together with IAPS 2008.
The venue, the National
Olympics Memorial Youth Center (NYC), once utilized as the Olympic
Village for the Games of the XVIII Olympiad in Tokyo, 1964. Reconstructions
and improvements have been made to provide a better environment for a wide
range of activities, such as conferences, lectures, symposiums, meetings of
small groups. |

| TRANSPORTATION GUIDE FROM NARITA AIRPORT |
|
The organizing committee asks you to come to Shinjuku Station by train or bus from the airport.
It is the easiest and safe way from Narita to downtown Tokyo. Time table is avilable for train and bus.

From Shinjuku take a local train on Odakyu line to Sangubashi,
the second station from Shinjuku. You can find the way to the NYC on the map below.
For those who would like to rendezvous with us when you get to Shinjuku,
we are going to make certain that we meet you at Shinjuku Station. Please inform us when you leave
Narita Airport so that we can arrange that we should meet there. It is kind of you to let us know your
flight details when they are fixed.

Take the JR
Narita Express to Shinjuku Station (Duration is about 80-90 minutes).
Transfer to a local train on Odakyu Line (about 3 minutes). The NYC is about 7 minutes walk from the station. |

Airport Limousine for Shinjuku Station. The Bus starts at Bus Stop No.23 and No.24 (Duration is about 85 minutes).

The International Association for the Philosophy of Sport invites
the submission of abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 36th annual 2008
IAPS meeting. The conference will be held in Tokyo, Japan between September 10th and
15th, 2008. Details about the conference may be found in the IAPS fall 2007 newsletter.
Abstracts are welcome on any area of philosophy of sport, including metaphysics,
epistemology, aesthetics and ethics, and from any theoretical approach, including
analytic philosophy and critical theory. In addition to abstracts for papers, proposals
for round table and panel discussions, including a tentative list of participants, are
also welcome and should follow the same format as paper abstracts. Graduate students
and emerging scholars are encouraged to submit works in progress. Abstracts should be
300-500 words long and must be received by April 1, 2008. The preferred mode of submission
is by e-mail. Please send the abstract as an attachment, preferably in Word. Contributors
who do not have access to e-mail should feel free to send a hard copy instead. Please
submit e-mail copies of abstracts to the Conference Chair at:
